Research

Work with you to study a question.

The questions organisations bring are the ones their numbers cannot answer, because they live in behaviour. The lab studies what is actually happening, and returns what to build on.

The kind of question
  • Which of our people's judgement is atrophying under AI, and where?
  • Why do our best people keep working around the system we built?
  • What is this tool actually doing to how our analysts decide?
What comes back

A finding, not an opinion: what is actually happening, read from what people repair, refuse and work around rather than from what they report, and what follows for what you build next.

The lab's own programme

Utsuwa

A research programme into synthetic reasoning substrates: forms of cognition that belong to neither the human nor the present machine.

The form a system is built in, its substrate, training and architecture, shapes the cognition it can carry. Utsuwa studies that space, and builds towards regions neither biology nor today's machines have reached.

The deeper inquiry

Reasoning is many kinds of thing, Einstein in geometry, Ramanujan in number, Feynman in pictures, and most kinds are still unbuilt. Language is the readout, not the reasoning. Utsuwa asks what a machine reasons in when it is not made to borrow ours.
